Fitch & Leedes is a brand of beverage mixers by Chill Beverages, they make Lemonades, Tonics, Ginger Ales and so on. This post is on their passionade which is a twist of lemonade
“Passionade” is basically lemonade with a passion fruit twist, and that’s exactly what Fitch & Leedes’ Passionade is. I haven’t really seen the term “passionade” used by other brands, so it seems like something they came up with themselves.
Ingredients
Sparkling water, Sugar, Flavourings, Citric Acid (E330), Malic Acid (E296), Ascorbic Acid (E300), Sodium Benzoate (E211), Sucralose (E955), Colorant (E160a).
Taste
The execution is decent—not mind-blowing, but a nice spin on regular lemonade. It’s refreshing and has a natural taste, not too sweet, just the right amount of sweetness for those who don’t like their drinks overly sugary. It’s sweet but not overpowering.
Like most store-bought lemonades, it’s fizzy, but not too fizzy to the point where it burns your throat. Overall, they’ve got a good balance of what you’d expect from a canned lemonade, but with a unique passion-fruit twist. That said, the passion fruit flavor does kind of dominate the classic lemonade taste.
It’s got that nice bubbly fizz, so it feels sparkling. On its own, Fitch & Leedes Passionade works well as a mocktail. It kind of tastes like sparkling wine, but without the alcohol, and even sparkling wine tends to be sweeter than this.
This one’s got just the bare minimum sweetness, so if you’re into super sweet drinks like sodas, this probably isn’t for you—it’s more on the mildly sweet side.
Honestly, even Minute Maid Lemonade is way sweeter than this. It’s almost like it crosses into soda territory with how sugary it is.
Fitch & Leedes Passionade Uses
You can definitely drink Fitch & Leedes Passionade on its own—it’s sparkling and refreshing. But it also works great in cocktails.
While there aren’t many classic cocktails that specifically call for lemonade, you can mix it with pretty much any spirit and it’ll taste great. If you’re into bubbles, you could top it off with sparkling water or wine, but honestly, the Passionade is already sparkling, so no need unless you’re really craving extra fizz.
A lot of drinks are topped with clear sodas like Sprite or 7 Up, but this Passionade is a step up. Plus, with its passion fruit flavor, it’ll pair perfectly with any passion-inspired cocktails.
White rum, gin, or vodka go well with lemonade, but I’d suggest any clear spirit you like—gin, vodka, white rum, or even tequila.
Lemonade or Soda Which is Healthier?
Water is definitely the go-to drink—you should get used to just drinking water. But if you have to pick something else, lemonade’s usually the better option, especially if you make it yourself. The big thing to watch out for is the sugar content. Some store-bought lemonades have as much sugar as soda.
Any kind of liquid sugar is not great for you. Soda’s worse because of all the high fructose corn syrup, but lemonade can still be a bad choice because of the sugar, too.
