Waffles are relatively simple to make with available ingredients already in your kitchen. Batter is mixed up and cooked on a waffle maker or a waffle iron. Good waffles are fluffy and soft on the inside while crispy on the outside.They can be customized to a variety of topping as to personal preference.Also they can be stuffed; The options are unlimited.
In this post we will go through a simple and basic waffle recipe to get you started if you are making waffles for the first time, or if experienced you may pick up something new.
Ingredients:
- 200g [8.8 oz] all purpose flour
- 30g[1 oz] corn starch
- 1 tbs baking powder
- A pinch of salt`
- 100g [3.5 oz ] sugar
- 50g [1.7 oz] butter or 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 250ml [8.4 fl.oz] milk
- 1 tsp vanilla essence [optional]
- 1tsp cinnamon powder [optional]
Procedure:
- Preheat your waffle maker iron until ready light indicates
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients; all purpose flour,corn starch, baking powder, sugar,,cinnamon and salt until combined.
- In a separate mixing bowl, beat together the milk, eggs,melted butter and vanilla essence until homogeneous.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.Do not over mix as this will result to chewy waffles.
- Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle maker and wait till done light indicates.
- Serve the waffles immediately with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup,butter,peanut butter,strawberries or whipped cream
