This post covers the popular brands of washing machines in Kenya to help as a purchase guide in case you are in the market for a new washer to get the best brand for your specific needs
4. Samsung
Samsung is just a certified stinker, Don’t buy a Samsung washer. While no washing machine will last forever, the primary factor is repairability. I have spoken to several repair guys and they all agree that Samsung washers are built not to be repaired, consult with any repair guy you know on this, do your own research online, or check out some of the consumer reports here
While Samsung does wash okay, it is just so unreliable and breaks down the easiest, Korean brands are just so techy and all that so they have many failure points, But LG is also a Korean brand that is techy but at least it’s miles more reliable, and Samsung just can’t hold a candle to it.
So if you were debating between Samsung and LG washing machines, just consider LG instead
And when Samsung does break down, it is a nightmare to even get replacement parts, at least here in Kenya. Just don’t buy Samsung, and you will be OK with literally anything else.
Again, in case you missed it. Don’t buy a Samsung Washing Machine!
Samsung fridges are however okay and I can recommend them!
3. Beko
No bells and whistles beyond the normal, just decent, Beko is the better brand that is easily repairable, I was told this by a repair guy
If you’re on a budget and just need a reliable washer without all the flashy extras, Beko is worth considering. It offers great value for the price and is easy to repair if anything goes wrong.
The trade-off? You won’t get advanced washing technologies or fancy features, but if that’s not a dealbreaker, Beko is practical and gets the job done. For most people, this straightforward approach makes sense. With regular use, Beko washers typically last between 7 to 12 years, which is pretty decent.
2. Bosch
If you’re after the toughest washing machines that can handle rough conditions, Bosch is your go-to. Celebrated for exceptional build quality across their appliances, Bosch washers are built to last and keep going even without thorough care. Reliability issues? Not a concern here—these machines keep running.
While Bosch washers aren’t cheap, the quality and performance they deliver make them worth every shilling. It’s the brand my family swears by; the one in my childhood home soldiered on for about 14 years before hard water finally won the battle, and it was replaced with another Bosch. I don’t think any other brand could handle that, they probably would have given up in less than 6 years. If the water was good I’m sure Bosch can do up to 20 years
For the most durable washer that can take some light neglect or withstand hard water, Bosch is your best bet.
1. LG
LG stands out as the best brand for washing machines in Kenya due to its well-rounded performance that meets most needs, including reliability, wash quality, noise level, efficiency, technology, and price. Simply put, LG hits the sweet spot across the board.
While it excels in overall performance, LG truly shines in technology and efficiency, outpacing other brands in power and water use. This makes it the most cost-effective choice in the long run.
The thoughtful design, such as its 10-degree tilted drum, helps conserve water by creating a reservoir effect, allowing the same load to be washed with less water compared to competitors.
LG is a safe recommendation for anyone looking for a balanced washing machine without prioritizing one specific feature. While it may not be the most durable option on the market, it’s arguably the best all-around choice. Most LG machines are regarded as reliable, typically lasting around 7 to 10 years on average.
A standout feature is LG’s drive motor, which is known to last longer than those in many other brands. However, even though LG is the most popular washing machine brand in Kenya, finding parts can be a challenge or might take some time, so that’s something to consider.
Final Recommendations
As mentioned, LG stands out as the top all-around brand.
- If you prioritize reliability, Bosch is your best bet.
- For the best value for money, look into Beko,
- For top efficiency, LG is the way to go.
(Again, friendly reminder in case you forgot: Avoid Samsung !)
These brands are the most commonly available new in Kenya, but that doesn’t mean they’re the best out there. The used market offers some ex-UK brands that outperform these options, though keep in mind these are second-hand items. Still, here are some excellent choices to consider:

Miele is the only brand consistently praised for outstanding quality. While the price can be hard to justify—you could go through two or three Samsung or LG machines before matching the cost—Miele machines purchased 20 years ago are still going strong with about six washes a week.
Miele is unmatched in durability, lasting at least 20 years, with superior washing performance. This extended lifespan comes with a price tag more than double that of other brands. If you find a well-priced Miele in the used market, go for it. Miele’s premium reputation means it’s not sold new in Kenya, so ex-UK sources are your only option.
If Miele is out of budget, here are some reliable used ex-UK options:
- Siemens: Another solid brand found in the used market. New Siemens machines average around 100k, so finding one for under 40k second-hand is a great deal.
- Whirlpool: Known for reliability, Whirlpool machines are a smart choice if you find a lightly used model in the market, infact if they were locally available I would recommend them as the second-best option
No matter which brand you choose, maintenance is key. Proper care will extend the life of any machine, but if you are terrible at maintenance then just get a Bosch lol
